I am a mother of 3 younger kids and want my life back. I know i need to take this pill before it gets much much worse where i cant leave. Everyone tells me that i can either continue to feel this way, or take the pill and get better. I was diagnosed with Depression/anxiety/ panic disorder within the past month. I have to figit, and mess with things in my car, or i feel like i am going to " loose it". I have been under so much stress at home, i know its why i am this way. Right now i force myself to go, and i go somewhere everyday. I have had 2 doctors want me on Zoloft, so i guess its time to take the chance. So often, whatever we call it, the symptoms fall into a basket which included depression. I was given Zoloft 25mg, and i am scared to take it!! I go out daily, and have panic attacks/anxiety attacks only to come home and have nausea, and headaches from letting myself suffer it out. I am no longer on any meds but I do remember thinking it was good. I rush in stores, i rush everywhere i go because i am already shaky and i think its going to get worse. Now i have been feeling like the sky is just in my face. Hey, I have seen the thread of your concerns and responses in the anxiety or agoraphobia forum. From my 30 yrs of experience with depression/anxiety, I feel your primary problem is anxiety. I have read all about the BAD things with Zoloft, is there anything good?? I have a problem with red lights, and the sky ( wide open spaces). Prozac is good as well as long as they are prescribed for the right reason and in the right dosage. Years ago, after many antidepressants, and several hospitalizations, I was correctly diagnosed with anxiety disorder or what my doctor now calls agoraphobia. The distance between us and the sky has been bothering me. You have a moderate prescription so if you notice adverse effects they can change your dosage accordingly. I don't know if Zoloft is the answer to your problem. I was hoping Zoloft might work as I believe you said you mom took it. Remember that it takes 4-6 weeks to build in your system so you might want to get started soon. I've tried it twice over the past 10 or so years. I am a survivor of anal cancer and most antidepressants now affect me this way. Paxil was one antidepressant I remember that seemed to have a calming effect. It sounds like you have more of an issue with panic/anxiety than depression. I told my doctor that i had anxiety, and he said my anxiety is steming from depression and he wouldnt even diagnose me with anxiety. It never helped with panic when I was working: can remember having to leave meetings I was getting so dizzy and faint. A psychiatrist told me once that anxiety is the root problem..severe or chronic, depression follows. I read the post about a doctor saying the opposite, so maybe it is up for debate. prednisone 30 mg a day Also known as: Zoloft The following information is NOT intended to endorse drugs or recommend therapy. It seemed like the first few days I didn’t really notice much except I would wake up in the mornings feeing slightly nauseous. Then about a month or so in I started getting tremors in my upper body and I could sense them coming on a few hours before waking up every single morning and I try so hard to just sleep through them. Then eventually I’ll toss and turn and no matter what position I sleep in it hurts my body. Then I’ll wake up to horrible pain in my back, neck and shoulders. I wouldn’t take it ever again and I’m only on 25mg so I’m hoping to get off really soon! ""Started with 50mg for 4 months but felt like it wasn't doing anything. Sertraline good and bad. for years and loved it. it just stopped working last year so i started Sertraline in November. 25 to 50 to 75 to 100mg. I have been. My son suddenly developed OCD at the age of 15 and was for a short time on Zoloft. It appeared to become better, but then developed into social anxiety and depression around 17. He has now been again on Zoloft for about 6 months, however, no nearing 19 he has no drive, hasn’t worked for several months, is only interested in relaxing, social activitesand, according to his statement, is the happiest he has ever been. Except, I am now the unhappiest and so is his sister as she is studying to achieve, I am working and he is sleeping every day till 11am, rarely cleaning up at home (opposifeel I te to when he had OCD) and I am at the point where I dont’ know how to go on. He was supposed to go to a cognitive behaviour therapy but refuses to go as he says he is happy – of course he is, but we are not! First, your son is not happy regardless of what he says to you. If he were truly happy he would not need to be taking any anti depressant medications or sleeping half of the day away. If anything, the medication has not helped resolve his symptoms enough for him to be fully functioning. What I would suggest is that his psychiatrist re evaluate him for one of two things: 1. he might benefit from another medication added to his Zoloft. The problem you face is that at age 19 your son is old enough to make his own decisions and cannot be forced into therapy or medication evaluation. Hi everyone, this is my 1st post & i'd thought i'd give it ago for some advice. I've been suffering for anxiety from when I was a young teen, but over the last couple of years it's gotten severely worse. This past week I've barely been able to get out of bed, I've had the typical symptoms plus a knot of severe dread in my stomach that I can't get rid of & seems to be the worse symptom of them all. I went to my GP yesterday who prescribed 50mg of Sertraline, which now after reading what seems like 1000's of terrible reviews, I'm absolutely petrified of taking it (I know this a very ironic part of anxiety). I have a little girl & I can't afford to feel any worse than I do, as I already feel guilty about her being around me when I have this horrible illness & I all I want to do is be in bed for the rest of my life & never speak to anyone ever again.....anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone has had no side effects or just some & it does actually work for anxiety?
