Parkinson’s disease PD is a common neurodegenerative disorder, manifested clinically by bradykinesia, resting tremor, rigidity, and postural instability.1 The cause of PD is unknown. Although there are a number of medications available for those affected, treatment remains focused on these motor, as well as nonmotor, symptoms. Conversely, patients receiving non-hydroxychloroquine immunosuppressant therapies had an almost 15% lower risk of developing Parkinson’s disease, researchers noted. Interestingly, the risk of Parkinson’s was increased 2.2 times in Sjögren’s patients without comorbidities additional chronic diseases, compared to those with comorbidities. I used Plaquenil years ago for extreme muscle and joint issues and it seemed to work fine. All my issues were resolved over a years time on low doses. I believe my problems started with side effects of a statin, which I stopped taking during my Plaquenil treatment but resumed after symptoms were resolved. Years later I am now having small fiber. Hi everyone, This is sort of an update to the discussion I started almost a week ago about how you can tell if Plaquenil has stopped working. I went in to my Rheum this week because I was having a lot more pain, burning, and muscle fatigue, particularly in my legs and arms, especially at night while I'm trying to sleep. Plaquenil probably won’t protect you from getting Covid-19, but it should make it less dangerous and shorten the lifespan. I hope that answers some questions. I have decided to take next week off and keep my kids home for the next week. It isn’t worth the risk, and I am lucky to have a job where I am able to take time off and still get paid.
