Allergy to plaquenil after being on it for years

I have been getting these horrible rashes and they are not related to sun exposure. I am starting to wonder if they are related to Plaquenil.

Can plaquenil cause eye damage Stopped my plaquenil now having muscle spasms

Feb 19, 2020 The adult dose of Plaquenil to suppress malaria is 400 mg on the same day each week. The pediatric weekly suppressive dosage is 5 mg/kg of body weight. The adult dose of Plaquenil to treat an acute attack of malaria is an initial dose of 800 mg followed by 400 mg in six to eight hours and 400 mg for two more days. For all of you out there. It is possible to develop an allergy to a drug you have been on for a long time. It is more common than you think. To have an allergy you must have been exposed to the allergen or an allergen that is chemically very close to it. For example Plaquenil Your body then makes a chemical that causes the allergic reaction. Aug 29, 2014 Several risk factors may increase the likelihood of retinal toxicity from Plaquenil such as, age of greater than 60 years, daily dose more than 6.5 mg/kg; use of the drug more than 5 years, obesity, preexisting retinal disease and, renal or liver failure.

I've always been one to go for the natural route and am starting to feel like I should just stop taking everything and see what happens - so frustrating. My doctor now wants me to start on Chloroquine instead of plaquenil.

  4. I have a sulfa allergy, and have taken Plaquenil for 4 years without any adverse effects. I can say, however, that I have not had any cross allergic reaction to other drugs sometimes associated with sulfa allergies. Whether you try Plaquenil or not is ultimately up to you and your doctor, but a lot will depend on the type and severity of.

Mar 07, 2012 Hi looloo. I hope your able to respond to my question seeing that this discussion took place quit some time ago. Did you feel tingling and numbness when you stopped plaquenil? I am getting off the drug after being on it for four years and I am not experiencing nerve pain in my feet and legs. I’ve taken Plaquenil before with no ill effects but quit taking it as I just got too lazy to remember. Well, i’m Back on it and like after a week of taking it, my anxiety has gotten so bad that my appetite has gone way down and I feel nervous all the time and have negative thoughts like my life is meaningless. I have a sulfa allergy, and have taken Plaquenil for 4 years without any adverse effects. I can say, however, that I have not had any cross allergic reaction to other drugs sometimes associated with sulfa allergies.

Plaquenil questions - Yes, the tongue thing is probably yeast. You need to get a good Lyme book that talks about how to keep that at bay. "Everything you need to know about lyme", "coping with lyme disease", even "chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, and lyme disease; 2nd" are very useful and probably at your local library. But you need to start with the "sugar busters.
