    Since the SSRIs came out in the 1990s, tricyclic antidepressants such as Elavil aren’t used as often. But some doctors do still prescribe them to treat not only depression, but also nerve pain. From what I understand it is very rare for someone to have an allergic reaction to the Plaquenil and when they do that isn't how it shows up.     Has anyone experienced mood changes/anxiety/depression while taking Plaquenil? Last several months, I have been struggling with anxiety. So talk to you Rheumy/ nurse specialist and get the support you need. No anxiety taken as it only happens now on very rare occasions for just a couple of hours at most. My lupus has improved but my OCD is through the roof. The cortisone I take is a corticosteroid liquid called Zamen drops ( here in Latin America) but available world wide.
