    Plaquenil curly hair

I'm wondering wtf my hair will be like in another 6 months. :-/ Hair pigment changes are uncommon with hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil), but most certainly can occur. I've got naturally very dark hair, but after 6 months of plaquenil I swear it's turning red! The texture hasn't changed but I'm still weirded out! Dec 27, 2018 Through regulated healthy eating, natural hair products, and vitamins, your hair can grow long and thick again. But, it does take time. I used to have thick and curly hair, but it fell out and thinned because of the lupus and heavy medications. I had to cut all my hair and start over. I hope this helps. Aug 18, 2012 Hair loss and changes are one of the most common symptoms of plaquinil. I'm surprised your doctors didn't mention that! Just tell your Rheumatologist to google 'plaquenil curly hair' and they will be awash in informative articles. Enjoy your new hair ; Plaquenil will eventually help your hair loss, but that will be a very slow process over a long period of time since plaquenil builds up in your body pretty slowly. And you should keep your head a scalp protected from the sun as VeeJ said.

I've also read about people who had curly hair that turned straight, and people with straight hair that turned extremely curly and coarse. I have jet black curly hair, so my biggest fear about my trial with Plaquenil aside from not relieving my symptoms is that it will leave me with salt and pepper hair. I have lupus and do lose hair from that but the dermatologist said as long as my scalp doesn't scar, the hair will grow back. Plaquenil is one of the mildest drugs used for lupus. The current doses are much lower than in the past. Cicatricial alopecia, also known as, scarring alopecia, represents various types of hair loss disorders that cause permanent hair loss. Earlier I picked up a lorry-load of drugs, including Plaquenil (that I've been taking for about 8 years) and the pharmacist asked me if I have regular blood tests while on that drug? But come to think of it I do think the specialist checked my blood early on so maybe if it is going to affect you it is in the early stages of taking it?
