How many hours does plaquenil work

Is it possible for it to work quicker in some people? I've heard it can take months, but I must say that I haven't felt like this since I was a kid - not achy or stiff.

Jun 11, 2013 I am so sick of meds but I need them. Generic plaquenil does not work for me. Rips my stomach apart and leaves me with no apetite. My pharm keeps changing manufacturers and it seems like every different one has a new side effect. Before taking plaquenil I was taking Quinicrine which is a compound for 11 years. PLAQUENIL does not prevent relapses of P. vivax or P. ovale because it is not active against the hypnozoite forms of these parasites. 310 mg base at 6 hours, 24 hours and 48 hours after the initial dose total 2000 mg hydroxychloroquine sulfate or 1550 mg base. I'd like to report that I never have symtoms or flares anymore, but I do, but I think the Plaquenil makes the difference between being a sick person pre-plaquenil and a normal person who occationally feels sick. I was able to function again, as in go to work, after about a year and a half.

It takes anywhere from 4-6 months before the affects of Plaquenil are seen/felt. Has anyone had a similar experience with Plaquenil? - Sko Just an FYI- Plaquenil is NOT known to start working that fast.

Plaquenil is a slow-acting drug, meaning that it can take up to 6 months to experience the full benefits of this medication, but it is possible for symptoms to improve in as few as 1 or 2 months. Plaquenil and other antimalarials are the key to controlling lupus long-term, and some lupus patients may be on Plaquenil for the rest of their lives.

My question is for those that have taken Plaquenil/Hydroxychloroquine. How long did it take for it to remove symptoms in your personal experience? I know I've read it can take up to 6 months but what I'm wondering is, do you just wake up one day and find it's kicked in 6 months down the road or more likely, it starts to work slowly over 6 months? Feb 19, 2020 Dosage for Plaquenil. The adult dose of Plaquenil to suppress malaria is 400 mg on the same day each week. The pediatric weekly suppressive dosage is 5 mg/kg of body weight. The adult dose of Plaquenil to treat an acute attack of malaria is an initial dose of 800 mg followed by 400 mg in six to eight hours and 400 mg for two more days. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. If you are taking hydroxychloroquine for symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, your symptoms should improve within 6 months. If your rheumatoid arthritis symptoms do not improve, or if they worsen, stop taking the drug and call your doctor.
