What if hydroxychloroquine doesn t work

I currently take 6 tablets a week and I started taking them in February this year . Has anyone been through the same as me, and find that the meds simply haven't worked so you have to simply start again. I have called my nurse specialist but she hasn't got back yet. Hang in there- it's very early days x I'm afraid Jacki08 is right it's early days and these meds take time. I am still in a lot of pain I have immense fatigue and feel miserable. I started MTX in September along with naproxen and gradually built up to 8 tablets (20mg) a week by the end of December.

Mar 17, 2019 Hydroxychloroquine is a quinoline medicine used to treat or prevent malaria, a disease caused by parasites that enter the body through the bite of a mosquito. Malaria is common in areas such as Africa, South America, and Southern Asia. Hydroxychloroquine doesn’t work immediately – it may be 12 weeks before you notice the benefit. Page 1 Hydroxychloroquine should effectively treat your condition, and stop it causing damage to your joints. It has been tested and has helped many people. However, as with all drugs some people will have side-effects. This leaflet sets Originally, hydroxychloroquine was used to prevent and treat malaria and was considered very effective. Now it is generally used for rheumatoid arthritis, but it has also been shown to work well for juvenile arthritis, some lupus symptoms, and other types of autoimmune conditions.

Things have been in their stride since mid February and now it's looking good regarding fatigue, swelling and pain (though I only ever had a little pain compared to what others have described). I started taking mthx in October last year and expected results quite quickly.

Make sure you take them on a full stomach. Your doc would help you work out which one might be best for you based on your individual circumstances.

Does anyone know if hydroxychloroquine and methotrexate can cause weight loss day, been taking for over a year now but although it helps with some of the pain. I have to have steroid. Hydroxychloroquine HCQ, sold under the brand name Plaquenil among others, is a medication used for the prevention and treatment of certain types of malaria. Specifically it is used for chloroquine-sensitive malaria. Other uses include treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and porphyria cutanea tarda. Switching medicines when one doesn’t work is an important therapeutic strategy that rheumatologist and patients can use in an attempt to keep the disease at bay. In an earlier post, I discussed strategies for knowing when it may be time to switch RA treatments.
