After I've eaten something with a high sugar content like a bar of chocolate it won't be straight away that I get this feeling but a time after. from my understanding the surge in sugar is combated by a release of insulin by the body but when this has occurred the insulin levels remain higher for a time and cause the low blood sugar. I've been on Plaquenil for a little over a year and it definitely does drop my blood sugar. It's actually in the medicine's literature that it can do this. I'm not diabetic and I normally run low normal blood sugar. However, on this medication, I have episodes of hypoglycemia.
