Does going off plaquenil cause fever after surgery

So far I have no more energy than when I first started and has developed neuropathy which I have just found out from Web MD that this neuropathy is one of the side effects of this med! Saying that by stopping this it would take another 6 months to build up the benefit. There are other meds that can help with what you are experiencing, and if your doctor didn't address that then I would seek out a second opinion... Please don't stop your plaquenil until you are sure it is the right thing to do and in your best interest.

A fever of 99 is very common after surgery, especially the first week after a surgery with a healing incision. A fever, along with an incision that does not appear to be healing well is absolutely cause to update your surgeon and to possibly seek medical attention. Aug 26, 2016 They helped find the cause but then seemed to have lost sight of everything and couldn't make up there minds on what they wanted to do. So now I am back to my local PCP who is fabulous. I think I am going to wait on the plaquenil to see what happens as the kidney doctor wants me off of it anyways. May 05, 2010 I don't know if this is just the RA in full swing, or if it is a side effect of the Plaquenil. I have been running a low-grade fever around 99.8 for about. a week and a half now. It comes & goes and I can tell when it is up because I feel hot. My normal body temperature is low, around 97.5, so I don't know if 99.8 would be considered a fever.

Plaquenil is a 6-weeker as far as the benefits are concerned, but it would be more dangerous to stop if you spend a lot of time outside and if this were the summer. Or maybe another doctor if you're not comfortable w/your current one.

  4. Effects of Anesthesia. If you’re having surgery, you most likely will have some type of anesthesia to keep you from feeling pain during the procedure. While anesthesia is very safe, it can cause side effects both during and after the procedure.

I stopped taking the plaquenil the beginning of December. It doesn't agree with my stomach I take it with meals too. And since I hadn't had a miraculous recovery the 6 months I'd been on it, I didn't think there was any harm in stopping it. BUT after being off it for a month and a half my body feels like it's falling apart. Find patient medical information for Plaquenil Oral on WebMD including its uses, side effects and safety, interactions, pictures, warnings and user ratings. Best I can tell, plaquenil does not affect the veins, except perhaps in a positive way as it reduces the incidence of blood clots in people with antiphopholipid antibodies, and can be helpful in treating vasculitis. See Anti-Malarial Drugs by Johns Hopkins. I was on plaquenil for years, but had to go off it as eventually it worsened my psoriasis.

Treating Lupus with Anti-Malarial Drugs Johns Hopkins Lupus. With Plaquenil, however, the most commonly prescribed anti-malarial, this sort of damage occurs only in 1 out of 5,000 people who take the drug for five years or more. For this reason though, it is important that you see an ophthalmologist for an exam before starting to take an anti-malarial medication for your lupus.
